Davenport's Family Restaurant: A Perfect Spot for Casual Dining in Cumberland, RI

Food was good, but my wife especially loved the chowder. I shared a bit, so agree it was very good. We'll be going back again to checkout more menu items.

From the moment we sat down, Gus set the tone for an outstanding dining experience. His proactive attentiveness was on another level, he anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. Water glasses were never empty, timing between courses was seamless, and he checked in thoughtfully without ever being intrusive. What truly stood out was his deep knowledge of the menu. Gus didn’t just list specials, he described flavors, cooking methods, and pairings with confidence and clarity. He offered recommendations tailored to our preferences, and every suggestion was spot on. It was clear he genuinely understands and believes in what the kitchen creates. Even during a busy rush, Gus maintained a calm, composed demeanor. While the restaurant was clearly operating at full speed, he handled every table with poise and professionalism. There was no sign of stress, just steady, warm service that made us feel valued and taken care of. Gus didn’t just serve our table he elevated our entire experience. If you’re dining here, ask for him. You won’t be disappointed.

Davenport’s is a very nice restaurant with good food and a nice friendly staff. Their prices are pretty reasonable, especially the Monday night special menu. I ate here the other night with a group of five other people and all six of us enjoyed our dinners. If you’ve never been, I would recommend checking it out :-)

The menu has so many enticing options you'll have to come back repeatedly to try them all. Beer selection is excellent. I especially enjoy the house amber ale. Service is outstanding. Fast, friendly and efficient. They have an excellent rewards program as well. This has quickly become our go to place for drinks at the bar for games and also just the 2 of us dining experiences. We meet family here as well. Love this RI gem!

Yesterday was my mom’s birthday and I was out of state. I knew she was going to go here to get a lobster roll which she said was amazing! I called the restaurant and asked if they could surprise her with a slice of cake . The girl that answered the phone didn’t even hesitate and went and found her! I just want to thank the staff for making my mom feel so special on her day!

The food at davenports is always delicious and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm which is perfect for the comfort food they serve. They miss out on the last star because the experience you get is server dependent. Most of the staff there is so friendly and knowledgeable and kind but there is one in particular whom when they serve is the reason this places does not have five stars. Otherwise, HIGHLY recommend.

Nate was our server and he was the man. First time here and gave us recommendations and was great. Taco Tuesday felt like we were robbing the place. $3 margaritas and $15 lobster tacos. 100% awesome and will come back.

We got the deal they have on Mondays that comes with a glass of wine, your choice of entree, soup and a dessert. A nice deal if you’re hungry and can take home leftovers. Strawberry cheesecake we took to go and they gave it separately so it stayed better over night :) It was nicer than I remembered here. I haven’t been in like twenty years. The bathroom feels very 2000s but the rest of the restaurant seems new and updated. Growing up, my grandparents used to take us here and I always thought this was a huge chain restaurant like Friendly’s but I tried to google it and I think there are only two locations. They just feel like a chain for some reason from the outside. It was all people over 40+ in here.
